Karre Mouy: Short Film Producer Programme

  • Phnom Penh Cambodia (map)

Recognising the scarcity of professional producers and the lack of professional development opportunities, Anti-Archive and Kongchak Pictures have collaborated to launch Cambodia's first producer programme “Karre Muoy”. Translated to "Square One," this programme is dedicated to nurturing the Cambodian film industry from its foundation. The goal is to expand the perspectives of Cambodian filmmakers, ignite their ambitions, and sharpen their capabilities. “Karre Muoy” strives to create an environment that champions innovation and growth, pushing the boundaries of what's currently possible within the Cambodian film industry.

This dynamic initiative features a fast-paced, two-week workshop at Raintree, harnessing the expertise of regional and local film producers and mentors from renowned companies who will shape the next generation of Cambodian producers. They include  Loy Te of Kongchak Picture, Bradley Liew of EPICMEDIA, Daniel Mattes and Sreylin Meas of Anti-Archive, Lorna Tee of Barunson E&A / MyLab, and Weijie Lai of E&W Films

But it's not just about the creative side of things. “Karre Muoy” places equal emphasis on the business and project management aspects, including financing, budgeting, sales, and distribution. The workshops are designed to equip budding film enthusiasts with fundamental film production skills, from proposal creation to pitch preparation, opening doors to both local and international funding opportunities.

Eleven teams will be selected to work on developing compelling pitches for their projects. Three top winning teams stand a chance to win a whopping $2,000 in seed funding for production, with other service packages adding up to a total of $5,000.

Register HERE for a chance to participate in the programme by 29th May 2024. Follow the journey of emerging film producers on Anti-Archive.
